Marrak

London-raised, Sydney-based Marrak is a producer, collage artist and photographer. Across mediums he instinctively leans into texture, his work balancing a sense of control and chaos. From sampling jazz records to capturing field recordings in a new city, these raw elements are then pulled apart, resampled, and run through generative patches until they transform. He works from a place of exploring rather than arriving, crafting sounds experimentally, leaning into not knowing what happens next. The results create continual movement: weightless one moment, rhythmic the next, never quite settling.

"Modular starts from a blank canvas.. you have to build a sound from nothing, sculpt it into something. It's all about misuse.. when you don't understand what's going to happen, it gets exciting. Everything I do is generative, creating feedback networks, it often feels like it's alive. Resampling is the same instinct. It's never really finished, just the start of something else."
